It appears there are a couple different models used. I've seen pics of a 2014 X2 with the MS-RA205 and x46 with the 600 or 700 series. I'll know what the 2014 xstar next weekend when my gets delivered.

I'm just going through this too. I understand the 'high power upgrade' uses a Fusion MS-IP 700i along with (i think) a single channel amp and one of the usual JL subwoofers that sits behind the drivers seat. I would assume it uses the Fusion to drive the 4 main speakers, and then the single channel amp to drive the sub. I don't know if the speakers are upgraded too.

Does anyone know what the head unit is for the base (no upgrade) 2014 stereo? Perhaps that is the ms ra-205?

Hard to believe they would use a head unit to drive any speakers. Fusion's site shows the IF700i as 70W per channel x 4 (max), which is probably like 50W per channel RMS, significantly underpowering the JL M770 speakers.

I bet the base stereo is the RA205.

Nonetheless, I spoke with my local audio guy and he's a big fan of fusion head units, says they are superior to just about any marine head unit available. We'll see, but I do like the ipod & android capability via USB, bluetooth, etc.

I just looked at the brochure and manuals for the 700 series head units. They have some very cool features. I like that they can be set up for 4 independent zones ( 3 Volt Pre-Outs). Very interesting that the deck has an Ethernet connection to hook into a router so you can control the deck with your smart phone via WiFi. Those features would probably be more valuable on larger boats, but you could have a zone for the cabin, bow, tower and sub. Not sure how difficult it would be to change volume on the fly-that's why I love my WS-420. Looking forward to hearing some feedback from the 2014 owners on how they like these decks.

For those with the Fusion IP700i, how are you using Android to play music? 3.5mm headphone jack quality is crap, bluetooth quality is junk, and when you plug an Android phone into the usb it accesses all tracks over MTP, but doesn't read playlists, resulting in having to scroll through or search hundreds of songs, very impractical. I'm reading the Fusion manual now, and am about at a point where I'm about to use a flash drive with mp3s, playlists by folder as I'm at a loss.

Oh, also, the fusion doesnt work with the iphone 5. at least not the internal deck connection, you'd have to use usb, which again presents the aforementioned problem. I dont use anything mac so switching to an ipod/iphone is not an option.

okay, I just tried using a jump drive with folders used as playlists. works pretty good. all functions are there, you can scroll through folders, mute, scroll while playing, etc. and the sound quality is great. Guess this is the short term fix for me.

You are correct rtw, I looked at about 4 2014's this weekend. Cool new feature is auto volume with 7" screen for sure and unsure of standard screen. I was told that the speaker were m series but it would make sense if they were not.
