Idle running high speedometer acting up

I am a new boat owner and I am thrilled with my MasterCraft I have a 2006 X7, It has been running great. This week the idle has been running at about 1200 RPM's and the analog speedometer is rapidly showing acceleration when the boat is sitting still and then falls and raises very erratically. The perfect pass digital read out does not register it shows 0.0 at 2500rpm. Can anyone give me an idea as to what is going on. Thanks so Much.

start with ground wires.. the usual suspects....then connections to gauges and then the MMDC.

okay so starting behind the dash, looking for ground connectors to the main bus. I am pretty sure that my engine has fuel injectors so to me that means there should be an ECM some where, is that the same as the MMDC?

I believe them too be different. corrosion causes many goofy problems - I would start with the main ground on the engine.... read many a thread where cleaning corrosion fixed many problems.

Disconnect the throttle cable and anything else from the throttle lever and see if it settles down. If it does, the Perfect Pass needs setup/repair/re-routing and if not, it could be a vacuum leak or sticky IAC (located on the throttle body). You have two built-in vacuum leaks- the PCV valve and the IAC and only the IAC is variable. Plug the PCV and listen for a hissing sound in the immediate area- could be a crack or tear in the line that connects that valve to the intake- they get brittle at the ends.

Jim thanks your dead on. I removed the throttle cable and idle settled right down to around 700. I put the cable back on and throttle shot back up 1200. So can you tell me how to reset PP?
