2000 Prostar 205

Still looking for a newer boat than my current '94 PS205. The looking intensified after a frustrating day on the water with the engine cutting out when hitting the throttle. After I post this I am going to check the fuel filter. Anyway, found a very clean 2000 prostar 205 with 225 hours on it, MC wakeboard tower, wakeboard racks, 330HP engine, gelcoat in excellent shape and interior also in excellent shape, all the gauges work, carpet good, few dock rubs on it but nothing more than that, tandem axle trailer (not MC, although still nice looking). The seller is asking $24000. He doesn't need to sell, owns the boat, his kids are grown and he has only used the boat twice in the last two years. I have looked around and found a few for 21K-24K but I thought I would put it out there to get more feedback. Thoughts?

I'm assuming its a V-Drive? Sounds a little high but not much, as long as its in good shape.

Sorry to hear about your problems. That's no fun on a weekend!

Here's a comparison. It's been for sale for at least a year, if not 2 at about the same price. So, with that said, I'd say $24k is too high.

Your 94 would ski much better...

ya, from what I have read I suspect that is the case...however I suspect the extra room and newness of the boat would make up for a bumpier ski.

what do you guys think would be a "fair" price if the boat were mint?

Most of the pricing at this point is on condition. $21-$23k seems fair depending on how well he took care of it. If he's got loads of receipts showing care, and it shows, then I would be more likely to pay a little more.

Look at the options though:

Tower -- Is it a New Dimensions tower? That's the nice one that looks good with this boat but really expensive to add. Like $2k-$3k for tower itself.

Perfect Pass - Does it have it? That would be a $800 to $1000 addition doing it yourself. $1400 if a dealer installs.

Trailer tires/brakes/bearing in good condition? If you have to refurbish then that also needs to go into the equation.

Boat prop - Original or aftermarket (such as ACME or OJ)? That would be another $400-$500.

That's too high. Like others said depending on options maybe as high as 21 or a bit more. I'm in Canada and also have a 99 direct drive 205 I might try to sell. It has perfect pass, a tower (not ND) new vinyl, new carpet, 330 hp LTR and lots of extra stuff like fat sacs and an extra prop. With about 400 hours I was really hoping for 20k but would realistically take less and prices up here are generally a lot higher.

Having said that, I did see an add on only inboards just recently for a 99 205 direct drive for 28k so who knows.
