The ID on this is too small. It measures something like .278 and we need a .3095 ID.

"Heavy" beer is for wine drinkers that are too embarrassed to drink wine in front of their buddies. "Light" beer is a drinkin' man's beer!

I just pulled apart a friends ballast puppy to see why it was running slow. I pulled the bearing and it was 608zz, not a 627 as previously thought. So I went to the bearing shop and bought a new one, when I tried to install it on the shaft, the new bearing just fell on.
I measured both the original bearing and the new bearing, (both are 608zz) and new one was 7mm bore, 22mm o/d and 7 thick, which is correct as far as the spec says, however the original was 6.92mm bore, other dimensions are the same. I don't know how or why the original has a smaller bore than its supposed to.
I'm going up to my cabin on the weekend so i'll drag out all my old spare pump parts and check this out further.

When I went through this exercise I took my entire motor to the bear specialist place. At first they were very confident that they would have something on the shelf or could order something in overnight. When they pulled out the bearing and measured it, I was told it was not a standard size and referred me back to the manufacture of the pump.

Very frustrating. For the life of me I can't understand why someone when engineering this wouldn't use a standard off the shelf part. I'm sure there's an answer here somewhere and a way for us to rebuild these but if we are able to find a source we'll probably have to do a volume purchase to afford the rebuild parts.

The standard 608zz bearing would do the trick. You would need to pin punch the shaft and apply some loctite retainer to hold the bearing place. These pumps only run for 5-10 mins at a time, so there is no real load on the bearing. The other problem i have is that the front motor end shield appears to have been machined slightly off-center, so there is a considerable side-load on the bearing.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 3 water puppy pumps. Is there any trick to removing the bearing from the shaft and also from the cast housing? Bearing is a 608Z with a HX stamp as well.
