Anyone know what happened to the CMD9? Looks like a lot.of online retailers have it listed as already discontinued. The decks on the clarion website now are the cmd6 and 7...no 8 or 9.

Just bought an 8. Seems like a good deck. Couldn't find a 9 anywhere. For the difference in price I would have been hard pressed to buy it anyway. Lots of features I probably wouldn't have used except for the Bluetooth.

After dealing with Sync in my Ford I've decided to deep features to a minimum in the boat. As long as I can use my iPhone and iPods for music I'm good. Can't see me using the phone connection for calls, can't see the color display because of where mine is mounted and plugging it into the USB port just seems to be a better way to ensure performance. Just my thoughts though.

I agree when it comes to some of the fluff. My main interest was in the 4v pre- outs
2v makes me cringe.

Go with the Alpine. 0.02

I will admit, I do love my alpine cda-9886m in my roofless jeep. Really the only benefit I can see in the clarion is a waterproof face rather than just water resistant. Not sure how much that actually aids in longevity though.

I have the 118 and my wet hands are all over it. And my remote on the transom is basically under water every time we stop. I've been having good luck with mine. I was pretty sure they were waterproof.

Anyways, back to clarion

I still see the CMD8 and CMD9 on the Clarion site under 2013 Marine Source Units. They may be a little slow getting the CMD9 out. Lots of changes compared to the older CMDs. For me having a CMD6 the only deck I'd upgrade to is the CMD9. Hopefully they start hitting the shelves soon. I'm more interested in the the MW4 remote that isn't out yet either.

Well I just received a reply to my question via Facebook about when the CMD9 was going to be released:

"Rick, the CMD9 project has been going through some changes and those changes are certainly impacting its launch date which is now expected to be at Q2 of 2014. The M303 might be a good alternative for you to get some tunes in your boat. It has some of the same features as the original CMD9 such as Bluetooth and Pandora control and it is a highly regarded unit as far as audio performance and reliability goes. Please note that you will need a waterproof cover if it is going to be mounted in an area that can get wet but those are easy enough to get your hands on. Please give our customer service department a call and we can discus all the features and options in more details (800-347-8667 Option #2). Thanks for your interest."
