2011 X2 ballast question

Just started using the ballast on my 2011 X2 now that my kids are older. How do you tell when the ballast are empty? I read where some people only fill there ballast 50%. How do you tell when the ballast is 50% full?

Thanks,
Mark

If you don't have ballast gauges here is the easiest way to keep track. Time the ballast of what it takes to fill up the tanks completely. Then half that each time you want 50%.

You should be able to tell when the pumps are empty because they make a different sound. The will get a high pitch whine to them when there is no water flowing and get are sucking air.
