I have just been reading the mastercraft brochure for 1996.In the engine section it states that the standard Mastercraft engine by indmar has a roller cam and a redesigned intake manifold for extra performance. Is this not the case.I have a 1997 prostar 205 with the 275 hp tbi engine which I'm sure does not have the vortex heads, but i was sure it had a roller cam.

check the model and go to indmar and there you'll get the right info. My 1995 manual states my engine calls for a 142 degree thermostat and that is a spec for an engine with carburetor, TBI engine called out a 160 degree thermostat...you can download engine manual from www.indmar.com... I would trust that... you can also download tranny manual from manufacturers.

I called and talked to Indmar a couple of years ago. They told me that the 97 TBI was not a roller and that roller cams started with the Vortec heads.

Same conversation with Indmar and they recommended the 142 for my TBI. The 160 is what I used to run in my '88 351.

Can you help me?

Can someone please help me figure out my engine too? So this one is interesting! I own a 1994 Malibu Echelon with some type of Mastercraft/Indmar Engine. I know it was replaced in 2001 and I am guessing this is what they put in. Can anyone help..
