Maybe they'll start a MC-bass line. Already getting outboards for their Hydra-Sports line (top-ten center consoles by volume). It's been a while since MC had an outboard.

Or, better yet a premium priced truck-mounted-wakeboarding-ditch-winch. With cruise control.

I think they should keep the boats but cut cost with all the dash options and electrics that fail all the time.

I saw a few pics of the X-46 the other day at the dealer. Looks like they are just starting to leak them to the dealers. Hopefully the photos will end up online soon so we can ogle and drool over them.

I saw the econo tower on a 2013 X10 just the other day and its horrible. It's just wrong to drop the quality and aesthetics of your product.

I should have taken a photo but I didn't want someone to see me do it and get the impression that I like it.

Agree completely.

One quote I remember from a car review a long time ago was that an "entry level" Porsche is actually a used Porsche. It's bad for the brand for a premium car maker to drop their features, quality and price to make an entry level car in order to attract more new car buyers. I think the same is true for Mastercraft: Don't want to afford a new MC? No worries - buy a used one because the long term build quality is there...

About an "Econo" line: if everyone who can't afford to buy a new upper end Mastercraft only has a choice of a used MC or a new Axis, Moomba, etc.. How is this so much better for MC and the dealers? If people sell their boats privately, MC doesn't make any money and if people buy another brand its even worse. Plus there are always going to be the buyers who will only buy brand new.

I don't think there is anything wrong with an entry level MC line if it's done right. Therin lies the hard part, doing a value line right. Their attempt with the X1 failed because, as others have mentioned, the boat was just too small to compete. The current X-2 or X-15 hull might make a great budget boat on the other hand. 5.7 motor, basic electronics, bags instead of tanks (so they can be easily upgraded).

This is the entry level Porsche because it happens to be way cheaper than a new 911 cab. However at $50-$60k plus options for a 2 seat convertible, its still a fairly exclusive price.

Just googled and here are Porsche comments on an even cheaper car than the boxster.
