I disagree. You can indeed steer with the large motor while running with the baby. Case in point: sail boats often have fixed outboards and steer using the rudder. It is not efficient but it will indeed do the trick.

Sailboats have rudders. That boat had an outdrive. Big difference.

No one should run with a baby either

Most of the time a kicker motor is seen on a sailboat or paired with an outboard motor. An outdrive is not uncommon, but you just do not see as many of them. You would usually see them on larger bodies of water or the ocean, when there may be a need to have an emergency motor to get you back to shore in case the main motor craps out on you.

My in-laws had a boat on Lake Michigan and in their marina a large number of fishing boats had fixed outboards and used the I/O outdrive for steering. I went out on several and on a large body of water it worked fine as it didn't matter to much if you meandered a bit while trolling.

You know guys, That's all great and all. But it has a tiller in which to steer it with.

It was a fixed mount which means you can't tilt it up out of the water. Like Tay said. It was welded on the transom crudely. But that still doesn't change how outboards are mounted. And they all turn. None of them, don't turn. That is just nonsense.

Maybe his main engine doesn't turn left, so when he needs to turn left he just puts the little engine in reverse. Duh. Can't believe none of you guys have figured that out yet.

I am afraid of clowns.
Snakes are cool. I would run over a clown before I would run over a snake.

If you're so sure its not poisonous, why are you using a stick? I'm with your wife, run it over first, then decide if it was poisonous or not!
