V Drive lube

Just purchased a 1995 Maristar. Started for the first time yesterday. The dash light came on for the "Low fluid in V-Drive" however there is the proper amount of fluid in the V Drive. In reading the forum it is suggested to change the fluid in the V Drive. My question is what is the V Drive lubed with 10W-40 oil, gear lube or what. Is there also a filter to replace? Where is the fluid senser of this warning light?

I had the same question when I bought my 95 maristar 200vrs. My red light is always on under 1000 Rpms. If you are only seeing the light at idle it is running normal. If the light is on above 1200 rpms then you have a problem. If not your vdrive trans is operating normally. My vdrive takes regular trans fluid. The placard should state low v drive oil above 1200 rpms.

If you just bought your boat it would be wise imho to replace all oils in the boat to give it a fresh start.
