Impeller

I have an mastercraft 214 2012 model with an ilmor engine. Ive been having some troubles with the impeller. I ve had to change it twice in less than 200 hours. The boat has over heated both times.

I thought impellers were due to be changed every 50 hours or once per season ....at least on the Indmar engines ....

what's happening to impeller? Do you have a picture of a bad impeller? Use the warranty.. but post a pic.

That doesn't seem that out of line to me. I would consider 100 hours per impeller pretty good but would still like to know why they are going bad. Mine gets changed every season which is pretty much 50 hours.

A lot is also going to depend on how/where you use your boat. Brackish or saltwater will make short work of a impeller as well as dry starts. You're going to provide a lot more information to have anyone come up with any ideas.

Righton. The manual that came with mine recommends replacement at 100 hrs. I ignored it and it let go at 104 hrs, so for mine to replace two at about 100 hrs each seems pretty normal. I thought it may be an ilmor issue at first then I found out that the impellers are generic with a number of pump manufacturers. I guess they don't make them like they used to..
