Which fuel lines should be metal?

As part of my boat work this winter, I'm replacing all of the fuel lines from the tank to the carb. I already replaced the fuel pump to carb with a hard line but I wasn't sure about the lines from the tank to water separator and water separator to the fuel pump. Previously the tank to water separator was all rubber hose and the water separator to fuel pump was about 80% hard line with a rubber hose connection at the end. Curious about what's acceptable and what's not.
