Fuel Sending Unit

On my, again; "new to me" fuel sending unit.....
How can I check the ohms on this unit after I took it out of the tank. I know I should have left it in there and did the suggested procedure, but I kind of got ahead of myself because I haven't got it "summerized" yet. No battery installed. I hope it is the sender and not the gauge. I just bought this boat and am starting to get it ready for summer. [i] BTW the information on the unit is:P/N is Mastercrat 153260 oper. range 240/33. It is a Centroid Products sender. Is there another unit, like the some on this site that I can use if this is shot??
