Best way to tie up to a houseboat?

After many lake Shasta houseboat trips, this year we get to bring our 205v we bought last year. As I've already acquired a pretty good case of MCOCD, I was wondering what we're the best methods to moor our boat?

Was thinking of making something with 1 1/2" PVC and some noodle material to build some standoffs (kinda like a triangle w/ the top of the triangle hooked to the bow cleat to keep it away from the side of the houseboat) for the front and back.

What suggestions do folks have that have worked for them?
