From a towboat standpoint, the 6.0 will rip you out of the water just as well. You will simply lose 7-10MPH on the top end, is all. An X30 with a 6.2l will likely do 50mph, and probably 42-43mph with a 6.0l. Most inboard owners wouldn't care about that at all. The fuel mileage is nice in the 6.2l..... But you are right. 6k is not worth it.

The option sheet on my 2012 X45 showed the 7.4L as a $20k option.

I know they're talking 6.0 to 6.2. Your quote mentioned the 7.4L. Just for reference, I ordered the 7.4L two weeks ago on a new boat and the MSRP was $15,990

I got my X 10 without the surf tabs (x30 just a little shorter) I test drove the x 30 at the end of last summer without surf tabs and it did just fine. In my opinion not worth the 3k, since we are in Ohio I went with the heater and shower instead.

One thing, that I didn't consider when I stated that, is I don't think you can get the 5.7l in an Xstar....... So the 14k, was probably the option price over the 6.0l.
