Interior LED
I have two interior cupholder LED lights that went out in my 2006 xstar. I was thinking about replacing all the lights with a different color. Any suggestions? Boat is blue with an off white interiror. I want something that looks good but functional as well.

Made my own from waterproof LED tape and a little soldering skills. Did the entire boat with 5 meters and about $50!
Sorry about the photos and the messy boat. I was just so excited it worked I snaped photos before clean up! |

http://www.oznium.com/marine-boat-le...-running-light I drilled a hole in the bottom of the cupholders just big enough to fit the wire through. The backs had adhesive on them and just popped them in the bottom of the cupholder. Doesn't do alot when you have a can in them but its also not a 30 dollar ring. |

Dumb question......On the bottom of the cup holders or onto the sides?

First of all I purchased some stainless replacement cup holders for all my plastice ones. I drilled a small hole for the two 20ga wires then laid the tape on the wall of the larger diameter of the cup holder. The normal aluminum can will fit down in the small diameter, i suppose the larger diameter is for the can coozie but have not had any trouble.
When I get the boat out of storage I will post better photos. I did all the cup holders, gunwells, under the back seat, under the dash and the pocket by the throttle. Also purchased two LED speaker rings for the two exposed speakers in the bow. I was testing everything with a 9v battery when I was wiring it all up then hit the 12v switch and it is very bright! Now I need to wear my cheap sunglasses at night! |

I just ebay'd "LED Tape Waterproof" and your choice of color. Last year I paid about 19.99 no more than $25 to the door. Make sure to get cuttable tape. This way you can make any size in multiples of 3 lights each.
Soldering was the tricky part as you are soldering 20 ga wire to foil. I then used heat shrink to seal it all back up and stiffen the connection. |
