Italy Trip Help

My wife and I are taking our niece (19) this May looking for ideas. We already have the travel part done.

4 nights in Rome
3 nights in Florence
1 night in Venice

Any help or ideas to make the trip fun are greatly appreciated.

Only been to Venice, and that was only for a few days before and after a cruise. Bring some good walking shoes. To escape the crowds and tourist trap restaurants, I recommend walking across the Accademia bridge to the quieter Dorsoduro neighborhood. There is a wide uncrowded walkway along the Guidecca Canal there that has a few quiet outdoor cafes overlooking the canal.

You want to visit somewhere in Italy that you and your family will never forget and will be telling other people about for years afterwards and wish you could find a way to get back there again at some point in your life? Go to an area on the northwest coast near Pisa called "Cinque Terre". It means five lands, and it consists of 5 small oceanside villages that are connected by a walking trail that hugs the mountain side overlooking the ocean. You can only access the little villages by train and it is unique that there are no cars or mopeds to clutter the sounds.

Vernazza is the best village in my opinion as it is arguably the most picturesque and unique of the bunch but you cant go wrong with any of the five. Below is a picture of Vernazza from the hiking trail- i did not take this picture but I have the identical picture that I took on my bookshelf and think of this place daily.

Search google images for cinque terre and you'll quickly get an idea of why I love this area so much....
