What is the Saltwater Series

I am considering a 2007 X2 SS. The dealer says it was never put in saltwater. private lake in florida. I was wondering what all is different about the Saltwater Series....

Why would a closed cooling system need a hook up to flush the engine? Am I missing something?

Saltwater series has closed cooling, anti-corrosion paint on the engine, zinc anodes, and I believe different/sealed wiring and hydraulic steering. The flush adapter is so you can flush out the heat exchanger and exhaust manifolds.

Which engine does it have? MCX?

MCX I think...not sure. My dealer has found it for me. It is at a dealer in florida. Waiting to see some pics of interior before we go any further

I've got a 2006 Maristar 200 SS that is pretty much salt water series X-2. My boat has the 5.7 Crusader which I really like for the ease of doing routine maintenance. I believe the salt water boats also get stainless hardware in addition to the above mentioned upgrades. Built in flush system is nice for running boat up to temp out of water for changing oil. Salt water is tough on billet aluminum-one thing to pay attention to when looking at a salt water boat.

You can see more pictures if you go to my profile page and look at the California Picture Album-these where the pictures in the add when I bought the boat from the previous owner. 2006 was the first year of the pickle fork X-2 & MS 200. The tower on mine will be different than a 2007, but the interior should be the same. Not sure what year they started putting in the B.I.G. displays vs. gauge setup that I have-could be different in 2007. My boat spent less than 50 hours in salt water, but it does show some evidence of it on the aluminum pieces. It really comes down to how meticulous the previous owner was.

Rick, so why is your engine so much different than, say a MCX engine? Was that even an option for you? What's your HP rating on the "Captin's Choice "??

1) Closed cooling 100% including the exhaust manifolds
2) Hydraulic Steering
3) Sacrafial zincs and annodes
4) addtional stainless steel
5) Flush kit
6) It will be marked as an SS edition
7) Normally a galvinized trailer has been added
8) scuppered interior

The Crusader is PCM vs the MCX being Indmar. I think the 5.7 Crusader was listed as 330 HP. Mastercraft only used the Crusaders for a couple of years before switching to the closed cooled Indmar engines. I end up buying my impeller's from the Natique dealership. The Crusader has a relocation kit on the oil filter that makes it easy to get to. Plenty of room behind motor to pull the impeller-which I've read isn't always the case. The salt water series also comes with a raw water strainer which is a nice bonus too.
