Has anyone raised the driver's seat up?

I'm still using the throwable cushion. You have to have one per coast guard regs and if you are sitting on it, it is always handy if you need to use it for a lifesaving device!

Here is what the seat mount looks like from the factory. really need to clean it up down there.



I am thinking about raising it 4" right now with 2 sections of rectangular aluminum tubing on edge that will be cross braced so they don't lean. The 8 factory bolts are accessible from the seat behind the drivers seat so I will just use longer bolts.

The Xstar seat sits a ton lower. I am 6'1" and even with the seat flipped my head is still under the windshield.

Here it is. A 4" driver seat lift on a 2004 X-Star.













Review: I am very happy with the how it turned out. I feel like I can see so much more from the drivers seat. I have not had it out on the water yet but it is an obvious difference. The steering wheel I have the adjust a little higher but it does not feel out of place or too low. If I were to go back I think I might do a 3" spacer to gain some clearance between the steering wheel and seat for when you are getting up and down. Again it isn't bad, but something I would think about.

I will report back once I get it out on the water.
