Thanks for the compliment. I'm sure diesels of this size will begin to trickle into the US eventually. Fuel prices will ensure that..

Thanks musicmd. The trailer had to be modified to AUS specs and it now looks similar to current ie. 13 MC spec low profile trailer option except it is 4" narrower, has different lighting and electric over hyrdaulic brakes.

I have an '06 4.4L towing a '99 Maristar 210VRS and the boat is always loaded to the gills. Love it. Tows great, it barely knows the boat's back there. I am however only a couple of miles from the ramp. My max distance is the ~20 miles to put the boat away and get it from winter storage.

Nice! The only thing I noticed on my 6 hour trip home with the boat was the gas gauge moving faster. It averaged 11mpg the whole way back, but I would assume that is similar to other V8 truck based platforms when towing. I am going to do some slotted rotors and better brake pads this spring, since my trailer does not have brakes. Other than that, Im good to go. 4-wheel self leveling suspension works great, the factory trailer wiring is awesome, and it still drives like a BMW. I am thinking of upgrading to the turbo diesel X5 in a few years when they drop into my price point too.

I have chatted up a few owners at the ramp with the X5 diesels and they all love them for towing. They weren't towing MC's but they all loved the diesel in the X5's. How can you go wrong towing with a diesel??? I love towing with my diesel but mine doesn't come from Munich.
Tried to talk my old man into a X5 diesel but he decided he wanted the 4.8 gasser instead.
