Beyond the fading, I think the question is the paint. Might want to clean up the interior, throw in the back seat and take some new pics. These make your boat look fairly distressed.

*2. Not in the market but you really need to clean that up before you post photos on here. When you market a boat in that condition it sends a message to prospective buyers that it is a workhorse and certainly a long way from meticulously maintained. Whilst maybe completely honest in the description it needs the gel sanded, buffed, maybe new decals, steam clean the carpet and a general tidy up if you want to get good money for it. Not trying to offend but my .02c. Have fun.

Personally, I think the price of $12,500 is a fair price for a boat in this condition. Sure, the owner could clean it up and get more for it, but for a '97 with PerfectPass, a tower, a boom, ballast, good vinyl, etc. I think the price makes it desirable. Provided it checks out mechanically, I think someone could be very happy with a deal like this.

That's the way I see it. If he polished it out and was asking $17,000 for it, would it be better?

I can definitely see both sides of the story here. I have just been caught before and was thinking that regardless of the price effectiveness argument a boat quite often scares people off if presented in as is condition. Just about every time I buy something that I think is a bargain and will clean up ok, I end up spending heaps on it with all the hidden problems. I do accept that this sort of deal is appealing to some however.
