That missing spacer might allow your alternator to move forward and aft slightly little during operation and cause your alignment to change, belt squeal, etc.

Alternator looks really nice though!

Had to do that with my boat when I first got it. The PO had changed the alternator but no spacer. I used a piece of pipe that I painted. I plan on having my brackets, and that spacer, anodized this year. Now that I think about it, I think I used a 1/2" drive deep impact socket to run it in the driveway at first.

Hmmmmmm....thanks for pointing that out. That is how it was when I swapped the alternators. Perhaps the PO misplaced it when he changed the alt out sometime ago. I wonder, is that something that can be replaced with a part at an autoparts store, hardware store, or boat part dealers? Any ideas? The new one, just like the old alt, is super tight on the bracket with no allowable movement, but I would like to replace that spacer so it is right...

This was a pipe nipple left over from some project. $.99 at Menards. I eventually cut a piece of pipe with my sawzall, but you could get a piece cut you you at a hardware store.
