Brings back a bad memory of a very similar situation i was in several years back. I rented a wave runner in Acapulco and had to get past some very large waves to the open ocean. Tried to meander between sets but then found no way out except to gun the wave runner straight up the face of a near virtical wave. I just remember being in the air for a while and somehow landed without issue. Ahh good times...
