Removing Fuel from Tank

Ok, I know someone on here has a creative way to remove the fuel from the tank on their boat. I need to remove my tank and it is at least 3/4 full. I am replacing the exhaust flanges on the boat. I know that this can be done without removing the tank, but when I was inspecting the exhaust hoses, I noticed that the carpet under my fuel tank is very dirty and my MCOCD won't let me just put the panels back in place and cover it up.

I don't have a pump and if there is a way to avoid having to buy one that would be awesome. My initial idea is to push a hose through the filler hose and into the tank. then I would pour fuel into the hose and pinch it off. I would then place this hose into a gas container and "un-pinch" it to let it siphon most of the fuel out. Will this work? Any better ideas?

You can get either a cheap pump or siphon that will get the job done.

I had the same issue last season. I went to lowes and purchased a 1-1/2" diameter clear hose one that would fit in the filler hole and shoved about 10' in the tank held the end with my thumb and pulled it out half way and what do you know it started to flow. Only works with a full or near full tank. I was able to get about 75-80% empty enough to move it around by hand to clean behind. Once I got it all the way out I pulled the fuel sender to fix the floats and pumped the rest out with my turkey fryer oil pump. Needless to say it now says fuel only and not fry oil!

Not sure if this is long enough or not but I have one of these to put fuel in the boat from a 5 gal and it works great. May take a little while to get 30gals or so out though. They sell them at Academy or Bass Pro.

Doesn't taste good, especially with 2 cycle oil in it.

These work great. I had to break down and get a new hose for mine as it finally got too old and wasn't flexible enough to work well.

My original one worked fine until something happened and the glass bead inside chipped. It stopped pulling vacuum and actually fell out, so I replaced it. I'm pretty sure the more expensive ones have a stainless ball inside.
