'90 VW Jetta w 1.8t swap, this was my first car and what appears to be a never ending project.


'05 Audi S4, I sold this one a few years back to buy my first MC. I loved this car but I wasn't looking forward to doing the timing chains and clutch as I was approaching 100k miles.


'92 Corrado SLC, super clean and all original (less the suspension and wheels). Black on black with no sunroof.


'93 VW Fox, as odd as this car is I can't get enough of it on the track. My friend and I run this in Chump car events around the southeast. Fully caged and track prepped.


I just picked up an E30 for a daily driver. My first taste of BMW's and I'm already loving it. I'm having a hard time leaving it alone.

Welcome to the dark side. Easily the best BMW ever created and still thousands of people keeping them alive. I daily drove my 88 325is for 6 years, went to an E36 convertible DD for 2, and now Im back to an E30 DD, the red one I posted at the beginning of the thread.

Nice Corrado! What were you going to have to do to a timing chain on the S4 at 100K miles? Tensioner issues?

It's more of a PM item, but yes it's usually time for tensioners around 100k. Here's what your faced with:
You do as much maintenance as you can at this point.

I have an aftermarket warranty up to 100,000 miles. Maybe I'll just thrash it and see if I can get the tensioner to get to the point of needing to be replaced before the warranty ends at 100,000 miles.

The way that stuff usually works is you beat the hell out of it, only to have it not need anything until 103,000 and then you have a catastrophic failure out-of-warranty.
