Unfortunately it is a taxable perk, or at least it use to be a few years back. Our company had that as a benefit at one time but I stopped taking advantage of it as this being one of the reasons. The other reason is that I hardly used the lounge. I always arrive at the airport with just enough time that I'm not rushed but not more than that. By the time I made it to the lounge it was typically just a few minutes before I had to leave to board my flight. As far as between flights, the few times that there was enough time to take advantage of the lounge were just not often enough.
