2003 x30 surf tab yes or no
I have a 2003 x30 with 580 lbs center locker up front and 2 1100's in the rear lockers. I am still having a bit of a problem developing a good pushing wave. I don't know wht considering all of the others with the same boat say how great the wake is. Should I add a surf tab??? any other ideas?

With that much weight you are doing something wrong. Should be able to create a good wave. What speed are you going?

About 10-12 mph. Today i was planning on moving tha batteries to the starboard side and installing a battery isolator. Good idea??? Or will that make it worse?

Not an easy boat to surf. My X10 requires turning slightly to the surf side to get any push. I dream of the day we can surf going in a straight line!

How deep is the water that you're in. I've found that unless we're in at least 10' of water we can't generate a good wake. The prop wash just end up pushing the back of the boat up. The deeper the water the better.

I suggest putting the non surfside bag on the seat/in the midship locker surfside!

I have an '02 X-30 and from my experience you may have too much weight and the weight not distributed optimally. We surf with the following setup and it works pretty well for a hull that was not designed to surf. This is for surfing the port (passenger) side of the boat.
~750 lbs in port rear locker (passenger side) ~500 lbs in ski locker (custom sac - not factory) ~300 lbs in starboard rear locker (drivers side) ~500-700 lbs in triangular bow sac sitting on top of seats (it will hold 1,000 lbs but we've never filled it up) We go about 9.6 mph. I also have the L-18 (496) engine so that adds ~200 lbs of additional weight compared to the MCX engine.

Nice! I always have maxed out tge 1100 lbs starboard and the 580 mid ski locker with nothing on the port. So it sounds like i just need a 500-700 lbs up front. Easy fix.
I can add a little more in each rear since im running the mcx. So i take it your'e not running tabs? Also do you have a pic? Ive never seen a metal flaked x30 |
