The cost for paid Federal Holidays (ironic that they call them 'Holidays' when we all know the origin of the word, yet religious holidays are called something generic, Nativity scenes are no longer allowed on municipal or federal property and any reminder of religion has been erased) per day comes to over $565 Million. PER DAY! The info I found this afternoon shows that the US has almost 2.75 million Federal employees and the average salary is just under $75K/year. This doesn't even include benefits, AFAIK.

I had off today as a holiday. I'm not a Federal nor bank employee. Please don't "throw darts at me". I did something useful today. My son and I went scuba diving. We had reservations at Pt Lobos which is a state preserve and "is one of the richest marine habitats in California." The place is right next to another dive location called Monastery Beach. We found out later had we dove at Monastery we would have be diving with a baby grey whale that was hanging out there today. Oh well, you can't have everything.

I knew the inauguration was today. Re-election = not a big deal. It should have been a simple swearing in ceremony and that is all. I did not see any of it on TV. I did not miss a thing.
