Looking at used X30 have some questions

Looking at used X30 models and found a used 2004. After discussing with the owner he mentioned that the motor was replaced 3 yrs ago because it froze in winter. This immediatley put up a red flag for me but wanted to ask the members on this forum thoughts.

second question:

We are family boaters, we ski, kneeboard and wakeboard. I would also like to surf and I think the X30 would fit us. Would like something in the 22 - 24' range.

This would be my first direct drive boat, everything stern drive.

Any suggestion on model or year would be appreciated also, my budget is in the 25 - 30K range
