99 PS205v Engine rust

I've had my boat since the spring, and it was and is in great shape for the year, but I recently discovered a little bit of rust just below the engine block manifolds(?), just underneath on each side. I don't have any pics of it, but if you envision the separators on the V drive (see attached photos) are removed, you can then see it from a profile view, just below , which on V drives isn't an easy angle, which is why I missed it in the first place and didn't have the seller fix before buying.

So, I'm guessing the best thing to do is scrape any rust off and paint over it, but my question is, what's the best thing to use for paint? Rustoleum? Any recommendations?
