I just installed the bracket last night.
I think you've got the other end of the bracket on the wrong water pump bolt if it's compressing the hose. |

I had my alternator replaced 3 years ago due to the lower flange being broken. The dealer installed the bracket at the same time and the new one is holding up fine with no sign of any new cracks.

I imagine so, but I'm wondering if the using the bracket with a partially cracked flange will prevent me from having to replace the alternator.

Before machining the aluminum water pump pulley...You Can just remove the pulley from the water pump set pulley on the bench and attach a pulley puller to move the water pump pulley flange on the pump shaft forward to help with alignment...To move alignment rearward, press the water pump flange rear ward...might half to remove the water pump from the engine, support water pump shaft impeller in the center and press the flange inward. If your belt is way off...like a half inch...you might have the wrong harmonic balancer on the engine...even from the factory. So second, before messing with the water pump pulley or water pump flange on the shaft, you could look and see if the harmonic balancer were to be moved forward or rearward, would everything line up. & maybe look for a different harmonic balancer. I've ran into the wrong harmonic balancer on an engine that had pulley alignment issues. And of yes, reread the thread to see if your missing any bolts, broken alternator flange. |
