Very good condition indeed. 500 hours -- just barely broken in! That's an average of 25 hrs per year.

More fuel than 3.0 Merc, yes . . . but a whole lot less than the massive engines in the new X's. Your boat is also so much lighter than the new beasts. That big block will hardly need to yawn!

I dug out my old 91 TriStar manual. (Should have done that first!) Specs for the 454 are given as 390/425 hp.

That's a beautiful example of a 91 ProStar. It is in great shape and 500 hrs is nothing. Yes, it will use more gas than your Rinker. The faster you go...the thirstier it gets. So if you do alot of footin' you'll be at the pump alot.

I posted the only engine picture I have. Don't think it could be ID from it. Just from talking to the owner, I would guess it is the correct carb. He has had it for 12 years, and had all the right work done. Replaced the exhaust manifolds recently as well.

Everything else looks great, even the fuel pump vent line running to the carb. I only bring up the non-original parts as my '77 came with non-marine starter and carb. As this was my first inboard, I didn't know the difference, but quickly learned the ropes from all the knowledgeable folks around here.
