I have read all the negative post about these switches, maybe I have been lucky, '09 385 hours and nary a problem. (probably just jinxed myself) Not sure if people are too rough on them or what

Maybe brittle or something. Then thought maybe the switches that got used the most or abused (bumped), but most of the ones that broke were the ones that were rarely if ever used and the out of the way ones. Haven't lost any of the ballast or blower switches (most used). They have been the odd ball stuff like the shower which was never used until I installed a shower, nav/anchor lights which was never used, etc.

I have replaced each switch at least twice before I went and bought steel bodies toggles. Only problem is they do not make steel bodies illuminated toggles. Well, they might, I have just not found them.
I am convinced that the switches break over time due to the billet bezel. Expansion and contraction in the southwest heat is what I stand by. This said, so not even get me started on my gauges. I am sure MasterCraft has enjoyed replacing those 4 times due to cracking! ![]() |

i am with matt, i have a 07 x2 with over 350 hrs and have never broke a switch.

Hmmm - really strange, I was told originally when purchasing the boat that they were "airline switches" never a failure, obviously not the case right. I am in Southern Ohio, so not the west heat/cold extremes, but certainly hot humid summers and cold winters, but granted, not using the boat 7 to 8 months of the winter cold months.
I will mention, I don't flip the switches from the ends, always kind of place my thumb and fore finger around the base to flip the switch, if that makes sense??? I'm with Sodar, could be the billet expansion contraction and environment causing the problem, only stands to reason with some having an issue and others not? (Plastic and aluminum certainly expand and contract at different temps.) |

Pay attention to Zane's words around the 5:20 mark. There is a reason they switched to more 'robust' knobs. Glad to hear some haven't had problems, just remember when your 3 year old bumps one and breaks it on accident. Don't get mad.

I had an 06 XStar and never had any switches break. They were as tight and sturdy as the first day I brought her home.
If it can be done and changed over, great! Do it! Don't be discouraged by a few people with a little bad luck (no offense guys)
