Belts needed for a 77 351 Escort motor
I need new belts for the 77 S&S that I recently bought. Boat has the Escort package rather than PCM. I know the belts will not interchage, as they are different setups/brackets. Does anyone know any part numbers for the belts that I may find locally and use on the Escort--AutoZone, Napa, etc.? I am trying to save myself some frustration with trial and error with the RWP/alternator. Not sure if the alternator is in stock location or not. Never messed with Ford motors, only Chevy. Called skidim, but was told they did not carry a belt set of the Escort and it would be easier to try and match locally. Any suggestions?

Do you have a current set of belts you can match up at a local autoparts store? Nothing special about the style (standard v-belt), just need to determine the proper length.

Sorry I should have mentioned there are no older belts to go by. Most likely will try and use a string for the measurements. Should get me fairly close. I was hoping by chance someone had done the leg work

Done the string thing plenty of times on my project Land Cruiser which has had a dozen belt configurations over the years.
Pretty soon you'll understand the logic behind the part number at whatever store you use. For determining length, the one-size fits all belts are better than string.
