which amp

Not sure I can afford the $850 JL 5 channel, so am considering the $430 Alpine or 700 watt (white) JL - all 5 channel. Any thoughts on JL vs. Alpine since they are both similar in price.

Check out hifonics 4 channel amps as they are a great buy and ces rated (guarantees rated rms power ratings are met or exceeded through independent lab testing). I have arc audio amp which is very good but added a hifonics dedicated 1200watt brutus Subwoofer amp and it cranks. 250watt rms x 4 brutus is ~$225. No disappointments. Sonixelectronics has very competitive pricing.

Check these out:

I can't find the 900/5 anywhere but it retails around $420

Although the 4 channel and then a sub amp from the phantom series would be a great way to go. IMO they are the best for the price.

The only difference between JL HD and MHD is the color of the chassis, the boards are the same.

I'd suggest Cadence Audio. I bought one of their amps several years ago to power my wetsounds speakers and submurged the thing several times due to stupidity and pulled it out let it dry out hooked it back up and works like a champ. They even said if this was to happen they'd still warranty it. That sold me hands down. Here's a 5 channel at much less than the others and probably just as good if not better.
