I am going to disagree with BrianM on the quality of the used market right now. I just spent an hour searching the country on Search Tempest looking at MCs. There are a few nice 1997 190 LT-1s that are asking $17,500 and I don't really think because of the limited supply of nice used inboards that it is a bad deal. I am not saying that I would pay that, but it seems to be reality...especially up here in WI. The local MC dealer took in a 2001 19 Skier with 160 hours on it in May. The boat was on their lot listed at $18,995 for 48 hours before it was sold. I was forced to buy a boat in Denver this year because there was not even an "overpriced" option that was any closer. I have been buying/selling MCs since 2005 and I have never seen the market this thin on nice boats.

If I were selling that 19Skier I would not go below $18,000. A buddy listed a 1999 Supra Comp for $15,900 on Craigslist two weeks ago and the first looker paid full price. He forgot to delete the ad and got 14 inquiries within 2 days. Good luck with the sale! That is one MC model that I would like to own someday

Wow, makes me wish I still had my 190!
Almost hauled it up to Park Falls and stuck it in the garage. I coulda made money on that!

Makes sense on prices though. I haven't searched Prostars, but keep an eye on the X2 market now and then and they definately aren't going down. Seems I could get more now than I paid 3 years ago for the X2.

Tell me about it, that's what I want to buy next... but I need a significant price drop before that happens

Thrall,

I don't know what you paid for the X2 but the prices now are crazy. I passed on a 2006 X2 in Minneapolis two years ago at $37,900 and I probably should not have done that. Most of my dealings are in the mid-late 90's PS 190s and they are really hard to find this year. I missed three boats this year before I found my current Sportstar. Even with the shipping costs I should still be able to get an extra $4000 out of the boat later this Summer. My buddy that sold the Supra asked if he should direct the people inquiring about that boat my way but I can't find a replacement

Seems like if you stay patient, you should get some interest. To give you some other data, i bought a 2001 205V this summer with 300 hours, factory tower, $3k stereo system w tower speakers and SS prop on dual axle trailer. Was in excellent condition, needed nothing and paid $20k here in northern cali. Included ropes, skis, board, extra prop, cover, etc.

As others have said, excellent condition will result in higher price but end of season will reduce potential buyers at this time of year so may take longer to get something close to what you are asking.

I also agree on the price I sold a ’99 SportStar CB with 350hrs, PP, Heat & Shower for $13.5 in 11/10, it was clean like yours except some gel coat spidering on the port bow. Good luck with your sale. Jamie

Send a message via Yahoo to you could of had a MC
I could go for a boat like yours ...Very nice boat... plane and sexxy... just the way I like her! Would have to let mine go first and that seems hard to do every time I consider it

What are peoples thoughts, on this. Is this price out of line? I am going to be listing it on boattrader.com next week. Any feed back would be appreciated.

JB,

Price is probably ok for a start point, if you're not in a hurry to sell. I bought our '01 Skier in 2008. Ours is re-sale Red in similar condition, and it came with factory stereo (like yours), factory installed perfect pass, bimini, and a BI barefoot boom. It had 196 hours on the engine and we paid $17k. I thought this was a pretty good deal at the time; guy had recently divorced and sold it for what he owed on it. I'd say about $16-17k would be about right for both parties. Good luck with the sale; great boat!
