Hi Everybody,
New member to this forum. My dream is to buy a PS190, but the wife is insistent that the boat must absolutely have a walk-thru open bow. I don't want to throw $25k at PS197 from the early 2000's. Everything I read on the tristar 190 says the slalom wake is "almost as good as" the PS190 slalom wake. Everything I read on the PS205 wake says it is "almost as goos as" the PS190 wake. Which one has the better slalom wake? The TS190 or the PS205? |

If i were in the market though, I'd go with the 197 for the better 22 off wake |

92-95 PS 205 for best open bow ski wake.
Last year had someone come by in a 2004 190 and complimented our 205's ski wake. I skied behind that 190 and must say, not a huge difference. I'm no pro skier though.....

Prostar 195 or Sportstar Open bow might be a good option as well. Both based on the 95-97 PS 190.

I have a 205 and love it. That being said, I finally skied behind a friends PS190 last week and now I'm not sure I can love my 205 any more. I know that wasn't really your question, but there was quite a bit of difference between the two. So if you haven't skied a TS190 yet I would make sure and ski one before you start looking real hard for one, you my decide it isn't as good as you were hoping.

Tristar is very tight. Small interior as it is 19' including the platform. But you will also pay a lot less than a 205. And tristar wake isn't that bad.

Hi Everybody,
Thanks much for the input. I'm not getting many good reviews on the TS190 where slalom is concerned. Thanks for the tip on the sportstar walk thru open bow, I didn't even realize that existed as an option ![]() |

I have a TS 190, and have skied behind my friend's PS 205. The 205 is a better boat all the way around. (Maybe that's why the TriStar was replaced by the PS 205!) If you're a competitive skier getting into shortline skiing then the choice is simple. My biggest beef with my TriStar is that it's not very roomy. Having said that, I don't need a lot of room, and if you only have 3-4 people on board it's a great boat, has a pretty decent wake.
