Season ending injury

Well, my ski season is probably over as i broke my ankle on Saturday. I have been skiing my best all season recently, and after i rounded 3 ball at 35 off, i got pulled forward and as i hit the wake went airborne and crashed hard, flipping several times. As my ski hit the water, it stopped and i kept flipping. I use approach bindings and I cinch down pretty tight as i don't want my feet coming out. Well, this time it came out and broke my ankle in the process and possibly some ligament damage. I will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon this week and will need a screw put in. Won't know the full extent until I have an MRI. Total bummer. I was planning on switching to Exo boots next year. I sure wish I would have done this sooner, it would have saved my ankle.

That is a rough deal. Follow the doctors orders and do all the PT. Good luck on the repairs and recovery. Oh, and ask for the head nurse.

Best wishes...

Best of luck and a speedy recovery from someone who has been though an anke deal in the past. Broken, dislocated, screws, plates, etc (which remain in). 1 month cast, 1 month boot, 1-2 months boot and walking, considered healed 6 months later.

For me healing seemed to take longer than expected and doc actually used a bone stimulator due to lack of progress. What we think helped heal it faster (in my NON MD experience but I did sleep at a holiday inn last night) bone growth to rejoin all the bits was use... The more I used it once allowed to walk in the boot the faster it healed.

Although after not walking on it for months it did hurt like ell... (your milage may vary)

bummer.....looks like you will be the designated driver for a bit ?

we used to wear slalom bindings so tight that our feet would cramp after a few sets.

gave that idea up after a few falls like you experienced.

cheers for a speedy recovery.
