So just removing the hoses and I should see what is left. I imagine smaller pieces have flushed their way through the system and out the exhaust (that is what I am hoping) and then I can remove anything else that is left. Thanks for the info!

There is a screen in the trans cooler to keep debris from going through the system. I you don't clean it out, it will overheat again.

IIRC, the trans cooler is in front of the pump (lake side versus motor side) on that model and would not catch the broken blades. Would check thermostat housing and use a rod to clean out the exhaust risers at the connections coming off the thermostat housing. Also, see if you have hot spots (like one riser hotter than the other) while running to isolate clogs. Given that level of neglect, you should probably replace the t-stat too.
