They have the wacky rudder with the crazy wing on it that was a desperate way of fixing the wake that didn't work.

I think youre confusing the 95-97 with the 98-01. It was the 98+ hull that had all the fixes for the wake and handling. (Winged/slotted rudder, extra tracking fin, "blocks" glued into the chines, etc).

Im not a tremendous slalom skier, but always found the 95-97 wake to be excellent. Barely a tick worse than the 91-94 wake, and had much improved spray. Ive only barefooted behind the 98-00 hull, so I wont comment there. I would say that the 91-94 hull handles better than the others though.
