The big difference is whether the dist cap has the screws molded into it or it uses some sort of clip - as there were several versions. That is why I like the ability to input the dist number and get the correct part number. I may know someone who ordered the wrong Pertronix kit for his MC.

Yup, I know what you mean. I got the # off the distributor. Turns out I need the IGNITOR II, CLIP DOWN for my boat. I sure am glad Skidim called me to let me know I may have ordered the wrong one. Once it recieve then install the kit this boat should run as good as it ever will. It has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. So "we see".

Oh and I need to install a new damper plate asap..... I don't even want to talk about that. :-(

Installation is a breeze. Remember you may have to adjust timing once the new ignition is in place.

Not A Big Fan

I converted to an electronic module on my '85 Ski Nautique, and my '90 Prostar has the factory "prestolite" factory module.I experienced issues with both.If your dead set on going the electronic route-spend the extra $$ and get a Mallory electronic distributor-Quality and service available. As soon as the prostar module craps out,I'm going back to points and condenser-simple and functional.Good Luck.

Pertronix ignition systems have a 30 month warranty. Anyone on here taken them up on this?

Of those with issues....

How often have you left your ign on for a long time without it running for those with issues with the pertronix? I have run one in the racecar for over 5 years without issues (knock on wood); EXCEPT when I forgot to shut it off...

Ditto on the prestolite module crapping out, and then I went with the Mallory YLM series and so far smooth sailing. Didn't know about the warrenty...drats.
