Upholstery Odour
My '03 X-10 smells.
It appears that the upholstery has developed an odour of barf or smelly cheese. I cleaned my boat up a few weeks ago having opened it up after the winter. I used Mold Control and Vim on the seats as they had some mold patches and noticed mold developing in the enclosed areas. I took the seat cushions out into a room and wow... the smell is lousy! Definitely coming from the vinyl seats and cushions. Has the Vim damaged the vinyl? Is it causing some type of a chemical / odour reaction? Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts, solutions, ideas? Thanks. Teamoro |

The combination of winter storage and finding mold doesn't sound too good. I'd take one of the cushions to a local place that does boat upholstery/seating if you have one and get an opinion there. Good luck!

you could also try leaving it out in the sun for a few days, with all the seats laid out on the grass and all compartments open, giving it the good old fashioned "dry out"

Yep - a bad sign.
Mold is more than likely embedded deep in the foam. If it were me - and do it the lowest cost - I'd get the kiddy pool out - fill it with detergent/bleach as if laundry - and deep soak the cushions - walking on them. Stand them to drain & dry in the sun. Mold will only progress cool & damp. I finally made 2" plastic pipe full length from windshield to transom a foot above windshield to support tarp so it's tented steep for water run off and warm moist air escapes quickly out two large vents at top. |

Thanks NatesGr8. We are having a beautiful sunny weekend here and we've got all the cushions out and the boat wide open 'drying out'.
Thanks. |

Thanks Philscbx. I didn't think about deep washing all the cushions but its a good idea.
I'll try fully drying them out first and see if that helps. If not, then deep wash. Thanks. |
