One proud dad

I am one proud dad today. I couldn’t be happier. Last night we went to the lake and both of my 7yo twin boys did their first deep water start on combo skis with the connector bar between the skis. The rope was off of the tower and shortened. There was no rope connected to the skis, they were just holding the ski rope. Both of them just popped right out of the water almost at idle with a very gentle throttle. Once up, we only went about 12mph. I haven’t seen them smile that big before. Now they are big skiers like dad. As soon as one of the boys was back in the boat, he asked if he could try it on one ski now. At that point I started crying and told him he was my favorite son, and that I would buy him anything in this world. J/K.

I wanted to take them on a friend’s boat with a boom for training, but just hadn’t done it yet. Before last night they had skied a few times from the platform. I would sit on the transom holding the rope with their ski tips on the swim platform, and once the boat was moving I would slowly push them off the back and pay out the rope by hand. When they were done I would pull them back in. They didn’t even get wet. The funniest thing about last night is when one of the boys fell. I never told him to let go of the rope if he fell, so he just kept holding on dragging behind the boat. He is very literal, and let me know that he was just holding on tight like I had told him to.

Well it's like pulling teeth to get my 14yr old even in the water and of course will only wakeboard, and my 10yr old only wants to tube. So this is a major accomplishment in my book.

LIKE !!!

Those days are long gone for my kids now 16 and 19. They still ski and board some but other interest have taken over. Learned to not push them, I went through the same thing at those ages called the other sex!
