Engine Backfire!

I purchased a 2004 x-30 in april and have taken it out about 10 days so far, the last time we were out surfing the engine would back fire on take off once and then run fine this happened a couple of times. When I got the boat I changed both the engine and transmission oil and filter, put new spark plugs in it, and changed the engine impeler and cleaned the water filter. Also when I start the engine cold it starts great but it has a tendancy to stall out when i put it into gear until the engine warms up. Any ideas?

Check to make sure you got each of the spark plug wire boots back on correctly. I had this happen when I didn't have one "clicked" into place properly.

Any chance you inadvertently swapped wires on two plugs?

well i did find two of the posts on the distributer cap were corroded along with their corresponding distributer wire contacts was gonna change the two bad wires and the distributer cap and see how it runs, anything else i should look into?

Be sure to put some dielectric grease on either end of the plug wires. Don't for get the coil wire too. That will prevent the corrosion from happening again.
