Which one to buy
I am looking to buy my first Mastercraft. I am looking at the prostar models. I want the open bow so it will be the 205. I just need some advice on which year would be the best. I am thinking that around a 99 model would probably be about as new of a boat that my budget could handle. Thanks for the input in advance.

None that were bad or had inherent problems that I know of. There's a Prostar breakdown of features by year on here somewhere if you search.
Basic changes were mid nineties (94-95??) slight hull change, newer ones a little deeper draft I believe, not much though. 93 for LT1 powered or 94 for all models went from carbed PCM Ford engines to EFI Indmar Chevy engines. Don't focus as much on the exact year model as a determining factor unless there's something very specific to that model you want, rather, let the deciding factors be the overall condition of the boat, engine hours, proven maint records or not and add-on features (tower, perfect pass, stereo, etc) that you would have had to spend $$ to add on and that you want for the boat.

In '99 they added they moved the gas tank and created the rear storage trunk. This creates alot more storage.

The prostar 205 first generation was 91-95 and the second generation hull is 96 on to the current x-1. you should read this

get 2000 model, '98 & '99 has a weird plastic engine box... They switched back to a full vinyl covered box in 2000 i reckon.

If I had a big family i would own a 92-95 205 (same hull) in a heart beat! great slalom boats with a family!

I love my 1993 205, would not trade it for anything, including a new boat payment

What's your preference......skiing first or wakeboarding?
I'm a skier first so I opted for the 94' to 95' boat (the two years with fuel injection). I you prefer to wakeboard, the 96+ is the way to go. I also prefer the 2000 over the older ones (interior wise).
