Skiing/Boarding/Boating Related Injuries...

I know this topic has been presented before… However, I would like to hear of others misfortunes on the water and subsequent resulting injuries regardless of how they occured (skiing/boarding/boating/etc.).

So, I guess I will start with the injury I incurred in July of this year…. After taking a nasty wipeout and plunging head first into the water at 36 mph and having my head forced straight down I was diagnosed with multiple herniated discs in my cervical vertebrae (C5-C6 and C6-C7). Wipeouts coming over the front of the ski are the worst.

Exactly a month ago today I had anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery in my neck..... Basically they inserted 2 titanium plates and 6 screws in my neck..... Put the boat on ice (winterized) until spring.... The doc says I will be able to get back on the ski in spring....

Broken nose, dislocated my shoulder twice in three weeks, kicked myself in the back of the head (don't know what I did to it but my back is still trashed from 10 years ago), knocked out twice, split my ear all the way through, and various bruises cuts and scrapes

Maybe you should quit while you are ahead.

I think the worst I heard was a guy who skied into a rock jetty, basically died but was revived in the chopper on the way to the hospital.

I did a long time ago, but that didn't seem to slow me down

Well you know mine...happened Labor day weekend. Trailer loading incident, run over by my girlfriend, lol! Pectoralis Major Rupture, basically tore my pec muscle away from the bone trying to stop the boat with my left arm. Just had surgery to repair it. They drilled and inserted 3 suture anchors, look like titanium screws with eyelets on the end, in the bone and then sutured the muscle to the anchors.

Did they grind your bone down to help the muscle grow back to the bone, too?

I have a total of 9 of those suture anchors. 4 left and 5 right.
