Garage Size for X-15?

Anyone have the exact dimensions of the X-15 on the trailer (with tung folded and platform down)?

Or

Do you know what size garage is needed in order to store one?

I know if you want to leave the tower up you need 10'5" of clearance.

Jim,

He probably needs these dimensions. Maybe you could go measure one for him in the showroom.

-height to tallest point of boat when tower is folded.
-length of boat with platform folded with an attitude plate
-widest dimension of width with tower folded onto sunpad, yes, the measurement that takes into account the triangular tabs on the board racks.

I don't think these can be found over on MC.com

Thanks Witness140, yes those are the measurements I am looking for.

Here is what's on mastercraft.com:
Length: 21' 8"
Length with platform: 23' 9"
Width amidship: 100"
Length with trailer: 24' 4"
Length with sa tongue: 22' 2"
Length trailer single axle: n/a
Length (I think this should say Width) trailer tandem axle: 100"

I know some of the X-15's don't have a folding platform so I was think I'd have to take it off each time I put it in the garage. I have an '05 X2 now and taking off the platform is easy, I assume it would be the same on an X-15?

I'm not sure what you mean by the triangular tabs? Does the tower get wider when folded onto the sunpad?

Thanks Again!

Yep, MC site does not have real world 'useful' info. Hopefully Jim can hook you up with some info you can base a purchase on. I'm betting he has an X15 he can walk right out to and get the measurements you need.

Here's a thread with my 'garage friendly' X2 going into a 'standard' garage.

http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/...t=27149&page=5

You can see that when the rear portion of tower is folded down to sunpad, the board racks have to be rotated to allow it to go down to the padding. Rotating the board rack makes the rack extend outwards beyond the published width of trailer. Up here in the northeast, a 'standard' garage is 9' wide and 7' vertically. The rack sticking out is a deal breaker with these dimensions. IF you are lucky enough to have a 2 or 3 car garage without dividers, and width is not an issue, it becomes much easier. I

You can remove one of the fingers of your rack, or remove half the diamond. Obviously, rack extensions add to the dimensional complications, but still the same solution. I went with removing half the diamond with it's associated finger still attached. Even the diamond itself may have become an issue, but since I removed it, I can't say for sure. It may have squeezed in width wise, but it may very well have then protruded higher vertically than the tower tubing.

2008 and newer boats have the folding platform. Great idea, but the attitude plate completely destroys the concept. I disconnect the actuator from the top and bottom fittings and the plate folds down. I don't like leaving the actuator hanging on it's wire. If I had another 2" of slack between the actuator and the transom, it would drop straight down and allow me to leave the top bolt in, but it is a no-go. So I drop the plate and then the platform folds straight down as intended. Just another step in a long list.

If you are really tight in your dimensions, you will need to consider that how much the boat is weighted while going in and out of your garage will make a difference. For me, a full tank of gas is an absolute necessity, plus having someone on the platform as the tower goes in. I cannot do this with the truck attached, as the jack has to go to full extension to get the tower in as well. Once the tower goes in, the jack has to be lowered almost all the way for the windshield to go in.

I think your platform is a bit smaller than the current X2/X15. I think the 2, 14 and 15 have the same size platform. Someone else can confirm this. I used to take the platforms off of my 197's by myself. Not a big deal. The late model X2 platform is a lot bigger than that one was, and I'm not sure I'd want to be taking that one on and off by myself. I'm betting the current X1 platform (your current platform) is smaller and easier to manage.

Thank again Witness140, the detailed info is great. This sounds like it may be a little more of a science than I expected.

The good thing is, I'm building a house and I need the measurements so I can customize the garage, however it can't be 10' + tall so I'll have to fold the tower...no biggie. I should be able to take the height up to 8', would this relieve any pain? I will be backing the boat in on with my truck. I want to have enough clearance to where I don't have to worry about the tank being full or enough weight in the boat.

I guess I'll need to take a closer look at the platform designs because I'm looking at anything from an 06' to an 08' X-15.
