I love that lake. we do a couple trips a year. Stay at Sugarloaf in cabins for a week in July which is great! Here's a pic from our last trip July 08 when the whole area was burning up. Not a mastercraft but taken from one.

My girlfriend has the same type of pic from when she was up at Trinity. She said it was so smokey some days that they could not even go out in the boat.

Just got back from our week trip down at Shasta. The water level was about 50ft down so pretty low on the Sacramento arms towards the Antlers/Sugarloaf side of the lake but fine towards Bridge Bay and the Dam. We maybe saw a total of 75 boats the whole week. I talked with the folks at Sugarloaf and they don't even rent houseboat out of their marina anymore because the demand is so low, they combined them with their sister resort Jones Valley. They also sold most of their fleet and went from 96 houseboats on the water to 30 and now are only renting roughly 6 a week! The interesting thing is I was trying to plan another trip and wanted to use a promo they had ran a month back and they said no, not real willing to work on price is maybe why they have no business. Pretty sad though to see any of these marina's go out of business. The guy at Sugarloaf said he would be shocked if there were still around next year.

On a happier note we have a great time, water was glass all week! Here are some pics, they are off my phone so sorry about the quality.

We go every year the weekend after memorial day weekend because it's hot out but still considered the "spring" season by the houseboat rentals. Here's a pic at night of our boat at the dam in 07. Little time lapse thing going on from the shore. Water levels were pretty good this year when we went last weekend in May.

Antlers resort are great to work with and they take good care of the boats. If you want to go there, use them.
