holley carb 4160 throttle gas leak?

I would hate to second guess something of that nature but I can't see that being the case. I'd call Holley and talk to them on Monday. They are good people to deal with.

Calling them is not a bad idea, also give this thread till tomorrow afternoon to get some attention... folks are still out on the lakes today(lucky ones anyhow)

thanks for the help guys, it would be great if i only had to put in the rebuild kit.

i've been able to get it running and such and have had it on the water for test drives up and down the river (don't want ot get to far) but the carb is unrealiable as it is (won't start up always, runs rough, etc., but when i can get it going it will run fine)

i'm amazed at how tough it is though, never went totally dead on me (unless battery problem) and it started right up after about 2 1/2 years of nothing (after a solenoid change and charge)

I think it warrants a rebuild. IMHO, $30 to find out if it fixes the problem far outweighs $400 for a new one. Plus, if it can't be fixed by the rebuild kit, you can easily sell the old one for $30 all day long on ebay in non-working condition. No harm nor foul, just a few hours time delay to see if the rebuild works.

welll the kits from skidim cost around $50 if i'm correct.

called skidim and talked with one guy who wasn't familiar with this problem, called back and left a message. also called Holley and sat on hold for about 15 minutes till i gave up, will call them back tomorrow.

i'd rather not go through the trouble of putting in the rebuild unless there was a pretty good chance it will fix the problem
