I wouldn't worry about it at all, Landy's will tow pretty much anything

I once towed my 205 with a 1968 series landy (with 3.9 V8 that I transplanted ) over 400 miles in one hit without a problem so a more modern disco or similar will eat it for breakfast

I tow with my Range Rover V8 (510hp) through the BC mountains a couple times a year. Truck is rated for 7500lbs and has no problems with towing. I do make sure i slow down on long hills.

When I saw the subject of Land Rover towers, this is what I had imagined.

My experience towing with a land rover was also slow. It got the job done and rode level (rear air suspension) but it sets its own pace. The d2's are not know for being quick without a load. I usually tow with a V8 Touareg and agree with others here, the LR's will do a nice job.
